Latrobe City Council has appointed Coomes Consulting to develop the Traralgon Station Precinct Masterplan.

By Latrobe City - 16th January 2009 - Back to News

Latrobe City is working with VicTrack, the Department of Planning and Community Development and the Department of Transport, businesses and the community to develop a long-term plan for the Traralgon railway station precinct through the masterplan.

Latrobe City mayor, Cr Lisa Price, said the aim of the masterplan will be to provide a framework for sustainable development of the precinct.

"The masterplan will identify ways of improving public transport access and use, creating a safer environment for public transport users, ensuring development around the station is of high quality, improving streetscapes, and promoting a mix of uses around the Traralgon railway station precinct.

"The Coomes team will be seeking public input throughout the project to help identify key issues and opportunities for the train station and provide feedback," Cr Price explained.

"There will be opportunities for the public to contribute their ideas through workshops and informal discussion sessions that will run during each stage of the project."

"We are encouraging everyone in the community to take up the opportunity to contribute their ideas," Cr Price said.

The first stage of consultation will be advertised in local media in February 2009.

In the meantime, residents can share their ideas by contacting Agata Chmielewski at Coomes Consulting on 9993 7848; or alternatively contacting Tom McQualter, Transit Cities project officer at Latrobe City, telephone 1300 367 700 or email tommc@latrobe.vic.gov.au.
