New Look For Loch Sport Bowls Club

Loch Sport Bowls Club will be back in top competition form when it officially unveils its new $100,000 upgrade

Loch Sport Bowls Club will be back in top competition form when it officially unveils its new $100,000 synthetic bowling mat next Wednesday.

The club has recently carried out a major upgrade after being advised that its old green was unfit for competition.

With the assistance of Wellington Shire Council, LSBC successfully applied for a $50,000 grant from Sport and Recreation Victoria, raising the remainder through club funds and a bank loan.

Wellington’s recreation officer Michael Rowell said that the club provided recreation, social and sporting activities for a significant percentage of Loch Sport’s permanent population.

"It’s an established club with a great history of tackling bad news with a positive attitude," he said.

"In 1987, members rebuilt their new club house when it went up in flames and this is the second time that they’ve faced the fact that their green has outlived its useful life.

The club will hold an official ceremony on Wednesday to launch the new facilities.
