Survey Not Ours, Says Council

A number of Shire residents have reported receiving phone calls asking them to participate in a Telephone Survey, claiming to be on behalf of Council, and including questions on their attitudes to wind farms.

By South Gippsland Shire Council - 30th September 2004 - Back to News

"The South Gippsland Shire Council has definitely not commissioned any such survey," said the Mayor, Cr Heather Bligh upon hearing of residents’ concerns.

Reports suggest that the survey is using the ‘push poll’ technique commonly used by the wind industry, and while there are some definite ideas from residents on who the survey instigators might be, Council has no information to verify its origin.

"I suggest that residents ask the interviewers to identify themselves, who they are working for, and how they can receive a copy of the survey results. Otherwise they should respectfully decline to be surveyed," added the Mayor.
