Country Action Grant Scheme applications sought

Wellington Shire Council is encouraging eligible community groups running initiatives which increase the inclusiveness of sport and active recreation in the community to apply for grants under the 2005 Country Action Grant Scheme.

By Wellington Shire Council - 7th September 2004 - Back to News

This State Government scheme is in recognition of the vital role that sport and recreation organisations and clubs play in helping to build active and confident communities in regional and rural areas.

Grants of up to $5,000 each will be awarded for initiatives which encourage improvement, inclusion and enhance skills in the community.

Applications are being sought from organisations or community groups involved in the delivery of sport and active recreation, which are not-for-profit and non-government and are registered as an incorporated body or can arrange for one to manage the grant funds.

Further information and applications forms are available from the Department of Victorian Communities’ website at www.dvc.vic.gov.au/grants or by telephoning the Gippsland Office on 5174 7308. Applications close on Friday 15 October 2004.

Said Wellington’s Mayor Jeff Amos: "The council wholeheartedly supports any initiative that will enable our residents to get out there and lead healthy, active lifestyles. We strongly encourage local groups to apply for these grants which will benefit the provision of sporting and recreation services within the community."
