End Of Year Freeza Celebrations A Success At The Churchill Skate ParkFReeZA held its final event for the year on Saturday at the Churchill Skate Park with 300 young people attending. By Latrobe City - 22nd December 2011 - Back to News Latrobe City’s youth and community development officer, Andrew Legge, said that the day was a chance for young people to hang out in a safe environment and wind down at the end of the year.
"There were six local bands performing live, a pro skate demo, and skateboarding competitions. It was great to see so many enthusiastic young people from all around the region turn out with their skateboards, bikes and scooters to take advantage of the fantastic weather.
"This event was supported by the Churchill and District Community Association. With the redevelopment of the township centre, the facilities are ideal for this type of activity.
"The FReeZA program has been very successful this year with dance parties, live bands and cultural events. All FReeZA events are drug and alcohol-free and are organised by local young volunteers who learn leadership, event management and promotion and risk management skills. We look forward to working once again with headspace to deliver a strong program of events during 2012," Mr Legge said.
