My Place, Our Place Postcard ProjectWellington Shire Council is inviting residents to create postcards that illustrate what they like about living in their community. By Wellington Shire Council - 13th June 2006 - Back to News Information gained from postcards in the My Place, Our Place Postcard Project will help guide future cultural planning for the region.
"We are hoping the postcards will give us a greater understanding of the ways people interact with their community. We want to know what they participate in, what they find rewarding and what they value in their community," said Deb Milligan, Regional Arts Development Officer.
"Culture is not just about arts, it is about the way we belong to our communities and how we connect with people, places and history" said Ms Milligan.
"My Place, Our Place is about dreaming and scheming the type of place in which you want to live. It is a chance to share your vision with others. "
Residents can design a handmade postcard that depicts the most rewarding ways that they interact with their community.
Postcards should be 100mm x 150mm with an image on one side and text on the other.
Ms Milligan said those not wishing to create a postcard were encouraged to send written submissions instead.
"We are happy to take people’s ideas in writing or any other way if they prefer.
We are simply looking for them to tell us what is important to them."
