Council provides public toilet facility at Hazelwood VillageLatrobe City Council is now providing a public toilet facility at the Hazelwood Village Shopping Centre in Churchill. By Latrobe City Council - 28th January 2004 - Back to News Latrobe City’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Paul Buckley, said the public facility at Hazelwood Village would serve the needs of shoppers and clients visiting Churchill’s business precinct.
Councillor Darrell White said Council had recognised the lack of a suitable facility in Churchill. "The elderly and young mothers in particular have raised the issue with their Councillors, and we’ve been able to respond to their needs. The new facility provides wheelchair access and includes a baby changing facility which will be much appreciated by mothers of young children," Cr White said.
Councillor Bob Smith said tourists and visitors logically assumed there would be public toilets at shopping centres, but after visiting Churchill, some had expressed disappointment about the lack of toilets to Council. "Tourism is becoming more and more important to regional economies, and Churchill’s visitor needs have now been addressed," Cr Smith said.
The public toilet facility is located just inside the Hazelwood Village Shopping Centre complex and will be open during the Centre’s normal trading hours seven days a week.
