Become Involved In The Development Of The Inverloch Community Hub

A public workshop outlining the Inverloch Community Hub project will be held on 21 November at 7.30pm at the Inverloch Community Centre.

By Bass Coast Shire Council - 3rd November 2008 - Back to News

The $2 million redevelopment of the Inverloch Community Centre is Council’s first major community building project and Melbourne based Ducon Pty Ltd has been awarded the tender to build the new facility.

Community Services Manager, Liz Wright, said it was Council’s priority to keep the community well informed and involved in the project, throughout and well beyond the construction process.

"There will certainly be an impact on the main street in Inverloch, on users of the facility and the broader community during construction," Ms Wright said.

"The workshop will give us the opportunity to inform the community about the process, and more importantly what it will look like and the opportunities for community use once it has been constructed."

The results of a meeting with key user groups, which will be held early this month, will also be discussed at the public workshop.

"We are taking a very open and co-operative approach to this project," Ms Wright said.

"The meeting with key stakeholders will focus on how they would like the new Inverloch Community Hub to be managed and we’ll be sharing the suggestions at the public workshop."

Council staff involved in the redevelopment of the Inverloch Community Hub will be handing out project information brochures at the Inverloch Street Festival and Community Expo this Sunday. They will also be on hand to answer any questions the community may have about the development.

The new facility will be built in two stages, with works expected to start on 12 January 2009 and finish on 18 December 2009.

The redeveloped Hub will incorporate the Inverloch Community House, library, Visitor Information Centre, Council’s Customer Service Centre, recreation and hall facilities.
