Latrobe City Council is calling on Churchill and district residents to take a look at the draft Philip Parade Development Plan and provide feedback. The draft plan has been lodged for Council assessment and is on public exhibition until 5pm on Monday 19 September 2016.

Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Michael Rossiter, said that the draft plan provided a framework for how the land could be developed for residential use.

"The parcel of land to which the draft plan applies is around 7.8 hectares of land directly south of the Churchill Township, bound by Monash Way to the west and Eel Hole Creek to the east.

"The draft plan proposes 86 allotments, the majority of which will be standard density, but there will also be 17 medium density lots. This mix of potential dwellings is due to the site being zoned as a Residential Growth Zone. The aim is to provide diverse housing types where there are already great transport connections as well as commercial, recreational and educational facilities," Cr Rossiter said.

"If you are a resident of Churchill and nearby districts, do please have a look at the draft plan. You can also attend a public information session at the Churchill Town Hall in Marina Drive between 5pm and 7pm on Wednesday 7 September. This will be an informal session where the community can drop in at any time over the two hour period. A planner will be there to talk you through the proposal one on one.

"We need to hear what locals think about the project so that we know we’re providing suitable developments in the right locations. Have your say by 19 September either online, by email or by post. Your opinion is important to us," Cr Rossiter concluded.
