By Wellington Shire Council - 21st October 2004 - Back to News

This is the third year in a row that the concrete and construction company has won the award from Smorgon Steel - Australia’s largest supplier of concrete reinforcing products - placing it in the top 30 concrete users for the entire state of Victoria.

GBG prides itself on employing locally and injecting money back into the Wellington community and has been involved with such notable projects as the $5.9 million Esso BHP Billiton Wellington Entertainment Centre and the $2.4 million Port of Sale re-development.

GBG has also experienced growth of over 10% for the past three years making it a significant contributor to the growing shire economy.

Said Wellington’s Mayor Jeff Amos:"The council commends the hard work and commitment of GBG and its employees, which has brought this ongoing award success. It‘s extremely impressive considering that it’s competing with major Melbourne contractors.

"We wholeheartedly support and promote economic development throughout the shire and strive to enhance this through many activities including the Small Business Mentoring Program and the recently launched Satellite Centres’ Revitalisation Project. These form part of our long-term strategy to strengthen the shire’s economy, including through support for the growth and development of new and existing industries. "
