Bird Broiler Farm

Baw Baw Shire Council welcomes the Planning Minister’s announcement that he has called in the appeal for the 80 000 bird broiler farm at Mountain View.

By Baw Baw Shire Council - 24th April 2006 - Back to News

Council Mayor, Cr Ian Clark said the decision to call the application in reflects community and Council concern over the proposal and its potential impact on the environment. "The panel process provides the community with the opportunity to comment on this proposal.

"The proposed site for the broiler farm is in a steep, hilly part of Victoria where the topography and diverse and wetter climatic conditions make it more difficult to predict effects of this land use," said Cr Clark.

Council believes that further controls are required, to ensure the off site impacts of broiler farms achieve acceptable community standards.

"Council awaits the Minister's considered decision with the hope of it providing strategic direction," said Cr Clark.
