Latrobe City Mayor, councillor Darrell White, said that Council’s priority continues to be the people of this community.

"Council wants to resolve this matter as quickly as possible in order to get life back to normal.

"Over the last few weeks, we have met with a range of State Government ministers to ensure that they understand the wide ranging impacts this situation has on not only the Morwell community, but on the wider region and other road users.

"The community has been very patient during this time and we understand that there are some feelings that not enough information has been provided," Cr White said.

Latrobe City CEO, Paul Buckley, said that this is a complex issue with a number of contributing causes.

"There has been a lot of work happening behind the scenes every day to undertake a range of technical investigations and remedial actions

"Council is committed to keeping the community informed and continuing to advocate for the State Government to step in and use their skills and resources to get the matter resolved," Mr Buckley concluded.
