Tenders advertised for new Traralgon Library work

The tendering process is underway for the new Traralgon Library which is being relocated to refurbished premises in the Traralgon civic precinct.

By Latrobe City Council - 10th June 2005 - Back to News

Tender advertisements for the work have appeared in local and state newspapers, with expressions of interest due by 22 June.

Latrobe City’s Chief Executive Officer, Paul Buckley, said work would commence on the facility as soon as practicable after the evaluation of tenders and the awarding of contracts. At this stage, contracts are likely to be awarded in July, with the expectation that work will commence in August," Mr Buckley said.

Latrobe City Mayor, Cr Bruce Lougheed said Council had held off on calling for tenders for the work on the new library, awaiting the outcome of the state government’s consideration of Latrobe City’s Living Libraries funding application.

"The announcement by the Member for Morwell Brendan Jenkins and the state government Minister, that Latrobe City had been a successful Living Libraries’ grant recipient, meant that specifications could be tweaked to provide a state-of-the-art library facility," Cr Lougheed said.

"This will be a library that is not only four times larger than the present facility but is packed with the features that make libraries more and more relevant in the modern world," Cr Lougheed said.
