Governance and services

Length of Mayoral Term

Council resolved that the Mayor and Deputy Mayor are to be elected for a 1-year term under Sections 26(3) and 27(2), respectively, of the Local Government Act 2020.

Election of the Baw Baw Shire Mayor

Cr Goss nominated Cr Wilson for the position of Mayor for 2025-26.

  • Cr Sheehan seconded the nomination
  • Cr Wilson accepted the nomination

No other nominations were received, and Cr Wilson was considered duly elected.

Election of the Baw Baw Shire Deputy Mayor

Cr Goss nominated Cr Suzanne Allen for the position of Deputy Mayor for 2025-26.

  • Cr Lucas seconded the nomination
  • Cr Allen accepted the nomination

No other nominations were received, and Cr Allen was considered duly elected.

Councillor Committee Appointments

Council moved to:

  • Appoint Councillor representatives to each Advisory Committee for 2026
  • Appoint Councillor representatives to the outlined external committees for 2026
  • Appoint Councillor representatives to the Audit and Risk Committee and the CEO Performance Review Committee for 2026

Council Meeting Dates 2026

Council adopted the schedule of Council Meeting Dates for 2026, continuing with the current monthly Council Meeting format. Baw Baw Shire Council's Council Meetings are open to the public and are held at the West Gippsland Arts Centre. In June 2025, Council revised the Council Meeting schedule for the remainder of the year.

All Council meetings will be live-streamed, and archived recordings will be available on the Council website for viewing. The agenda for the next meeting  will be available online on the Friday prior to the meeting.
