Sale Turf Club Extends Marquee ExperienceSale Turf Club has introduced a novel new Cup Day marquee By Wellington Shire Council - 18th January 2002 - Back to News Sale Turf Club has introduced a novel new Cup Day marquee so that the broader crowd can enjoy the "marquee experience".
Racegoers who don’t have the numbers to take out their own marquee, can now purchase individual seats or tables of 10 in the gala "Greenwattle Marquee" on Sale Cup Day, Wednesday 6 February.
The Greenwattle Marquee package includes entry to the track and a two-course luncheon plus hot tips and live interviews from the marquee’s bookmaker host, Ted Ryan.
Sale Turf Club secretary Helen Cantwell said the club wanted to extend the traditional "marquee experience" to racing enthusiasts of all kinds, not just those who belong to big businesses or major corporations.
"The Sale Cup is a major community event for the Wellington Shire and that’s reflected by the half day public holiday," she said.
"We want to make sure all our supporters have the opportunity to enjoy the traditional marquee experience that makes Sale Cup day a highlight of the Gippsland Racing calendar.
"Following a two-course lunch, bookmaker host Ted Ryan will provide guests of the Greenwattle Marquee with inside tips and live exclusive interviews from jockeys preparing to mount up for the feature race."
Mrs Cantwell said the added entertainment of a live host made the Greenwattle Marquee an attractive option for businesses intending to wine and dine clients on Cup Day.
She said the marquee package was also perfect for individuals or small groups looking to enjoy a day out.
"The marquee and catering are being arranged by the club so there’s no hassles – our guests simply turn up and enjoy the atmosphere at Gippsland’s premier race meeting.
"The Sale course is widely regarded as Country Victoria’s best and Cup Day traditionally attracts some of Australia’s best jockeys, including Damien Oliver who came through with five wins last year.
"It’s a day not to be missed."
The Greenwattle Marquee package includes course admission and race book, two-course luncheon, TAB facilities and raceday host performing exclusive interviews.
Tickets are just $66 per person, with tables of 10. Table or bar service will be available from a cash bar.
