Wellington Local News: Community Invitation To See The Vision For Port of Sale & Port Albert Development Mayor Keith Boyd has invited the community to attend briefing sessions By Wellington Shire Council - 7th February 2002 - Back to News Tell us your opinion See what others have said Wellington Shire Council Mayor, Keith Boyd has invited on the community to take the opportunity to attend briefing sessions to hear of the most exciting proposals being put forward for the development of the Shire’s two "undiscovered" ports.
"Council yesterday heard of the possible future for Port Albert, and it was exhilarating" he said. "Next Tuesday we will be briefed on the opportunities and recommendations for the long term development of the Port of Sale, a report we are most keen to see, particularly the links to be generated between the Port, the new Performing Arts Space and the Sale CBD."
He went on to say that the preliminary work for the two ports has shown how both can become tourist icons within Gippsland and Victoria. "It is because of their obvious potential that both Tourism Victoria and the Department of State and Regional Development are enthusiastic and active partners in these investigations and, we expect, in aspects of subsequent development."
The consultants’ team will be holding an information session for the community regarding the Port of Sale at 5.00 PM on Tuesday 12th in the Wellington Room at the Civic Centre. The Port Albert vision will be shared with the community on Saturday 23rd at 2.00 PM in Port Albert at a venue which will be advertised, once confirmed.
Any questions the public may have on either project should be referred to Mr Tim Wills, Manager Economic Development on 5142 3355 or timw@wellington.vic.gov.au
