Bass Coast Shire Council’s Community Development Team Leader, Kerri Ritchie, said the workshops were a fantastic opportunity for local individuals and organisations to talk together about the things which are important to the community as a whole.

"Community action planning draws on those who know their community best – the locals - to identify and work together on projects which meet their needs," said Ms Ritchie.

"Community action planning can achieve wonderful outcomes, while at the same time strengthening the community, by connecting the people who live there.

"If you’re not able to make the first workshop, there are other opportunities to be involved. Workshops will also be held on 20 October and 17 November," continued Ms Ritchie.

In the initial session Dana Hughes from C &T Training will explain how community action planning works and then smaller groups will be formed, so everyone will get a chance to put forward their ideas.

Council has received funding from the Department of Planning and Community Development to work with six local communities to put together their plans.
