Eight New Citizens For Bass Coast

Eight new citizens were welcomed to Bass Coast at a ceremony in the Cowes Cultural Centre on Thursday, 30 July 2009.

The ceremony was attended by Bass Coast Councillors, Cr John Duscher (Mayor), Cr Jane Daly, Cr Peter Paul, and Mr Danny Luna, Acting Chief Executive Officer. Friends and family of the new citizens were also present at the ceremony.

Cr Duscher welcomed Claire, Robert and Willow Denton, Nicoleta and Radu Giurgiu, Vishakant Thittamaranahally Kadaiah, Nishkala Vishu and Eric Van Grondelle to their new life as Australian citizens.

"We are very proud that you have chosen Australia as your new home," said Cr Duscher.

"It is an honour to officially recognise these eight residents as new Australian citizens.

"Phillip Island is a very special part of Bass Coast and it is my pleasure to welcome you to our community."

The new citizens originated from the United Kingdom, Romania, India and the Netherlands and are all currently living in Cowes.
