Latrobe City To Host Sporting Activities For People With Low VisionLatrobe Leisure Centre Moe Newborough will host a new sporting program, designed for people who are blind or have low vision, on 16 November. By Latrobe City - 17th November 2010 - Back to News RecSpo will feature a range of free recreational activities for people who are blind or have low vision to participate in. The program is run in conjunction with Latrobe City, Vision Australia, GippSport, and Blind Sports Victoria.
Latrobe City Council rural access worker, Bill Lawler, said that activities will include swish, line dancing, tai chi, tandem bikes, golf, indoor bowls, archery, cricket, goalball and aqua aerobics.
"The activities will commence at 10.15am and will continue until 2pm. All participants will be able to rotate throughout the day, to experience as many activities as they wish.
"There will be a sausage sizzle provided for lunch at a small cost of $2 a sausage and refreshments are also available from the Leisure Centre
"Visitors are advised to wear flat shoes and be prepared to join in and have a great time trying out all of the sporting activities," Mr Lawler explained.
Latrobe Leisure Centre Moe Newborough is located at Old Sale Road, Newborough. For those travelling via public transport, a shuttle service will operate from the Moe train station to the venue to align with the train timetable.
