Bass Coast Shire Council is currently undertaking a review of its Domestic Animal Management Plan (DAMP) and is looking for community feedback. Under the Domestic Animal Management Act (1994), Council must develop and implement a DAMP every four years.

Promoting responsible pet ownership

The DAMP is aimed at promoting and encouraging responsible pet ownership. It establishes guidelines so that pets and our community can live together peacefully, in harmony, without adversely impacting the environment or amenity.

Effective management

The DAMP also includes programs for the training of authorised officers to ensure the proper administration of The Act , sets out methods for evaluating our effective management of The Act and outlines programs, services and strategies that Council can use to achieve the objectives of the DAMP.

Have your feedbacks heard

Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Brett Tessari said the DAMP must be developed through community consultation and address those areas of greatest concern to the community. "We want to hear from you, whether you own a pet or not, to find out what matters to you when it comes to domestic animal management, I encourage everyone to complete our survey to have your feedback heard." Cr Tessari said.

Online survey to provide feedbacks

The online survey is the beginning of the consultation program to inform the Draft DAMP. Further opportunities to provide feedback will be advertised in coming weeks. The community can provide feedback via an online survey, which can be found at domestic animals. The survey closes on Sunday, 20 June.
