FAST FACTS: Crime up, training down under Labor

A new study, A Pathway to the Straight and Narrow, attributes a 13 per cent drop in drug crime in Victoria to an explosion in TAFE and training enrolments between 2010 and 2013. In 2012, Victoria saw its highest ever commencement figures, with 109,000 enrolling in the 12 months to June 30.

By 2015, commencements were just 47,100. Completions were also down.

Crime rates increased in 2015-16, with recorded offences up by 12.4 per cent. It was a 31.1 per cent increase on 2011-2012 figures.
