Free Workshops For Community Committees

Do you want to get the most out of your community board or committee members?

By Bass Coast - 11th May 2012 - Back to News

Bass Coast Shire Council is holding a workshop for community groups and clubs focusing on governance, committees and leadership. The workshop on 6 June at the Kilcunda Community Hall runs from 7.00pm - 9.00pm. It will help members from community groups and clubs to understand their legal and practical responsibilities as a committee or board member.

Community and Economic Development Director, Steven Piasente, said keeping up to date with these responsibilities helps to create a more harmonious, productive and effective working group.

"The workshop will be delivered by ‘Our Community’ who specialise in providing presenters who have a wealth of knowledge and experience within community boards and committees. Council looks for ways to support clubs and community groups within the Shire to help them develop their ability to provide services to the entire community. Helping committee members be well informed is one way we can provide that support, so we encourage members from all kinds of community groups and clubs to attend," said Mr Piasente.

Clubs or groups from within Bass Coast can send up to two representatives to the workshop.

Please register your club or group’s attendance with Arts and Leisure support officer, Chris Wutzke, by 1 June by calling 1300 BCOAST (226 278).
