Minister for Community Services Mary Wooldridge, joined by Member for Morwell Russell Northe announced that Traralgon Men’s Shed and Woodworking as well as Toongabbie and District Men’s Shed would receive new funding from the Napthine Government.

Toongabbie and District Men’s Shed is undertaking a $44,000 project with funding from the Coalition Government and in-kind support from the community. The $30,000 investment from the Coalition Government will extend and expand the existing Men’s Shed to cater for more people, as well as address occupational health and safety issues.

In addition, Traralgon Men’s Shed and Woodworking is undertaking a $15,280 project with funding from the Coalition Government and in-kind support from the community to address occupational health and safety and disability guidelines. The Coalition Government has contributed $7,640 to fund this project.

Mr Northe said this funding will allow for important improvements and upgrades and ensure that these Sheds are able to continue to provide a valuable service for the local community.

Minister for Community Services Mary Wooldridge said Men’s Sheds across Victoria said Men’s Sheds across Victoria were required to provide funding or in-kind support towards the project, taking the total value of the expansions and refurbishments to $1.3 million.

"The Napthine Government recognises the significant role Men’s Sheds play in their local communities through engaging a wide range of men, including those with disability, farmers, war veterans, retirees and the unemployed.

"They give local men the chance to get together, work on valuable community projects, learn new skills and importantly provide a sense of community involvement," Ms Wooldridge said.
