With over $140,000 in funding available for community groups and organisations, applications for the Phillip Island Community Benefit Fund (PICBF) will be open from Monday, 5 September 2016 until Wednesday, 1 March 2017.

Eligible not-for profit groups based on Phillip Island are encouraged to apply for funds from $5,000 up to $25,000, with the funding pool totalling $140,343.

The PICBF is derived from losses on electronic gaming machines on Phillip Island and, in this case, are from The Continental Hotel in Cowes.

Interested applicants can register to attend an information session being held on Tuesday, 23 August from 5.30pm to 6.30pm at the Cowes Cultural Centre, and on Tuesday, 6 September from 5.00pm to 6.00pm at the Phillip Island Visitor Information Centre at Newhaven.

Bass Coast Shire Thompson Ward Councillor, Andrew Phillips, encouraged groups based on Phillip Island to read the PICBF guidelines and attend one of the information sessions to find out how to apply.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for community groups and organisations on Phillip Island that have been planning great projects for Phillip Island to apply for funding to help them become reality," Cr Phillips said.

"With grants available from $5,000 up to $25,000, these grants could provide a huge helping hand for so many of our great groups and organisations, as well as the volunteers who keep them going."

Applicants will be required to plan their projects well and meet eligibility and assessment criteria as part of their application.

To register attendance at an Information Session, please provide attendees’ names, a contact phone number, and preferred information session to Council’s Grants Officer at grantenquiry@basscoast.vic.gov.au or by calling 1300 BCOAST (226 278) or (03) 5671 2211.
