Traffic management training course planned

Latrobe City Council is holding a one-day traffic management course to enable community groups requiring training in this area to gain a recognised qualification.

By City of Latrobe - 8th April 2005 - Back to News

Latrobe City’s Chief Executive, Paul Buckley, said that VicRoads regulations were now in place requiring that anyone erecting a road closure or directing traffic must hold the relevant qualifications.

"Event personnel are required to be skilled, competent and professional when it comes to traffic management, whether for road closure purposes, parking or directing traffic, due to the risk of accidents," Mr Buckley explained.

"Latrobe City Council frequently assists community groups with infrastructure for their events in the community and it’s important to note that road closure equipment can now only be allocated to community groups whose members hold the relevant qualifications," Mr Buckley said.

To assist community groups to gain the relevant qualifications, Latrobe City will be holding a one-day training course conducted by Associated Training Consultants (ATC) on traffic management.

The traffic management course will take place on Saturday 16 April at the corporate headquarters, 141 Commercial Road, Morwell, from 9.30am to 4pm. The cost per person is $125.
