What impact will biotechnologies have upon our society in the year 2020? Will we see many of our health and environmental problems being solved, or will we see new and unforseen problems confronting us?

A free community forum to discuss visions of biotechnology in the year 2020 is being held at the Wellington Shire Council, Civic Cente, Sale, on 9th May 2005 from 6pm – 8.30pm as part of the Innovation Festival 2005.

The forum is being organised by Biotechnology Australia to enable members of the community to listen to experts present their visions of how biotechnologies might impact upon us in the future.

Experts taking part in the forum will include members from the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute, the Molecular Plant Breeding Co-operative Research Centre, and the Department of Philosophy at the University of Melbourne.

Members of the audience will also have the opportunity to use electronic voting equipment available on the night to register their views on a range of topics.
