First Lake Narracan subdivision approved

Latrobe City Council has issued the first large subdivision permit for the Lake Narracan Precinct, at Turras Reach. The 87 hectare site will offer more than 630 lots in a range of sizes and 27 hectares of public open space.

Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Kellie O’Callaghan, said the subdivision would offer lifestyle opportunities not available anywhere else in the region.

"With 636 lots in a broad range of sizes this subdivision means a variety of housing types can be constructed, appealing to a large cross-section of the community. The premium lots that abut the foreshore will be an attractive investment too.

"Assessment of planning permits for the Lake Narracan area are guided by a Precinct Plan that has an emphasis on open space, good connections and rural amenity," Cr O’Callaghan said.

"As the precinct is developed, over time, there will clearly be a need to provide the additional infrastructure that makes for a well-considered subdivision. A $10 million development contribution will ensure that key roads, intersections, parks, shared pathways and community facilities will be constructed.

"It’s important for our community and to promote healthier lifestyles, that we provide open spaces in new subdivisions and these are connected with pathways for walking and cycling around the lake. New landscaping will also create an attractive environment.

"This really is an exciting opportunity for locals looking to take advantage of a brand new, quality subdivision in Latrobe City, as well as for investors looking for a waterfront lifestyle.

"Council will continue liaising with developers to ensure further infrastructure works are carried out before the subdivision opens up to purchasers," Cr O’Callaghan concluded.
