New Pathway On Phillip Island

Works to construct a shared bicycle and pedestrian pathway along parts of Phillip Island Road and Back Beach Road began this week.

By Bass Coast Shire Council - 8th September 2006 - Back to News

The path will run between Sunderland Bay Road and Dolphin Drive, Smiths Beach.

The works are part of Council’s plan to link Phillip Island communities with a continuous bicycle and pedestrian pathway.

Named the Phillip Island Shared Pathway, the current works are Stage 3 of five stages.

The reinforced concrete path is approximately 2km long and is being funded by Council, the Department of Transport and Regional Services and VicRoads.

The types of works commencing this week include weed and vegetation removal. Works will be suspended during the Grand Prix period.

Weather permitting, the pathway should be completed by early December.
