Sustainability Goes Online Member for Morwell and Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business and Tourism Russell Northe launched a new web based application today aimed at coordinating and promoting sustainability activities across Gippsland. By Russell Northe - 27th November 2013 - Back to News The website, www.sustainabilitygippsland.com, is the result of many months of work to ascertain what work is already being done in Gippsland in the sustainability area, and how best to address geographical and social barriers that currently prevent stronger networks establishing.
"This Sustainability Gippsland application will become an essential and free resource for individuals, community groups and organisations alike across Gippsland who are working towards a sustainable future," Mr Northe said.
The new web application is part of a $248,000 project being led by South Gippsland Shire Council with the Gippsland Climate Change Network, representing all six Gippsland Councils.
"This application will capture and promote the action already underway right across the region, provide a platform for participants to share knowledge and best practice, stimulate new ideas and provide a one-stop shop for sustainability activities in Gippsland," Mr Northe said.
This project is funded with the support of the Victorian Government under the Victorian Adaptation and Sustainability Partnership - formerly known as the Victorian Local Sustainability Accord.
The recent announcement of 2013 grant funding under this program saw Gippsland councils secure $446,000 for a range of sustainability and adaptation projects across the region.
