Council’s Pest Plant Coordinator, Peter Steller, said that guest speakers would address issues such as weed control, and the use and availability of herbicides.

"Landowners have different responsibilities for different weeds, depending on their declared category. Doug Vanhoorn from the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) will explain the difference between state prohibited, regionally prohibited, and regionally controlled weeds," Mr Steller said.

"Jim Stranger, also from DPI, will be talking about the legal requirements for the use of herbicides, whilst David Richards from Dupont will present information on the types of herbicides available," Mr Steller said.

"This is a free event and everyone is welcome, landholders or otherwise. The day will start at 10am, finishing with a sausage sizzle at approximately 1pm," Mr Steller said.

Those wishing to attend are asked to contact Peter Steller at Latrobe City Council on 1300 367 700.
