Small Businesses Invited To 2010 Training Calendar LaunchLatrobe City Council is inviting local businesses to attend a free networking seminar to launch the 2010 Small Business Training Calendar. By Latrobe City Council - 24th November 2009 - Back to News The seminar will take place at the corporate headquarters in Morwell on Wednesday 9 December from 5.45pm to 8pm.
Latrobe’s coordinator business development, Donna Starkey said that during 2009 over 100 businesses took part in training sessions offered in the 2009 Small Business Training calendar which was developed in partnership with GippsTafe, iGain and VECCI.
"It was fantastic to see so many businesses take part in this year’s training programs and we hope to encourage more businesses to attend the sessions on offer in 2010.
One particular program offered to businesses was the Grow Your Business – Group Program which was facilitated by Sea Eagle Consulting. Eight local businesses took up the opportunity to develop their business and marketing plans through this program.
"Eight businesses successfully completed a program which assisted them to develop a business plan or marketing plan. The ‘Grow Your Business’ program consisted of a two day workshop and up to three hours of one-to-one assistance with a consultant. SeaEagle Consulting advised participants on ways to use the internet as a low cost sales tool and implementing new customer services strategies.
"Participants from this program will attend the networking evening so they can discuss with other businesses the benefits they gained as a result of completing the program," Ms Starkey said.
The GYB program was heavily subsidised by the Victorian Government through the Department of Innovation Industry and Regional Development.
The networking seminar will be held on Wednesday 9 December 2009 at corporate headquarters, 141 Commercial Road Morwell from 5.45pm for a 6pm start and concluding at 8pm. Refreshments will be provided.
