Fishing Grants Now Open

Nationals Member for Eastern Region Peter Hall is encouraging Gippslanders who have an interest in fishing to apply for the 2010/11 Recreational Fishing Grants.

By Peter Hall - 12th November 2010 - Back to News

The Recreational Fishing Grants Program (RFGP) consists of two separate grants programs; a Small Grants Program that is continually open to fund small recreational fishing projects up to $5,000; and a Large Grants Program for projects from $5,001 to $100,000.

"The Small Grants program is open all year round, however Large Grants applications will only be accepted until 31 March 2011," Mr Hall said.

"I strongly encourage any groups who are involved in projects that benefit recreational fishing in Victoria to apply for these grants."

Applications for Large Grants are available under four funding categories including:

• Recreational fisheries’ sustainability and habitat environment.
• Recreational fishing access and facilities.
• Recreational fisheries-related education, information and training.
• Recreational fisheries-related research.

"Recreational Fishing Licence revenue will continue to be provided for fish stocking, with a further $200,000 already allocated for 2010/11," Mr Hall said.

For any fish stocking proposals, contact Fisheries Victoria on (03) 5772 0200 during business hours.
