Moe to Share in Record Community Sport Investment
Moe netballers will share in the biggest investment in women's and community sport in Victoria's history.
Keen netballers in Moe will share in the biggest investment in women's and community sport in Victoria's history announced by the Andrews Labor Government.
The Moe and District Netball Association will receive $3 million to enable the development of state of the art facilities in Newborough comprising ten courts, a brand new pavilion and lighting allowing games to be played at all times of the year.
The upgrades will give netballers across the Moe district the facilities they need to train, compete and attract more members – making it more successful and sustainable.
The funding will be provided through $60 million in the Victorian Budget 2018/19 for community sporting grants as part of a $241.6 million boost for women's and community sport.
The investment will also include a $15 million boost for the Female Friendly Facilities Fund to ensure women have the sporting facilities they deserve and need.
Quotes attributable to Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing:
"Local players, coaches and umpires have put up with outdated and unsafe facilities at the existing site for years, and this funding of $3 million is the boost that will make a massive difference to participation, morale and local pride. It's a huge win for netball and for the local community."
"Across Gippsland we’re continuing our record investments in new, upgraded and accessible sporting facilities and change rooms, and this is delivering huge opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to train, practice and compete all year round."
"We are determined to support everyone across Gippsland to be active in their sport of choice and to enjoy the benefits of getting involved at any level."
