Intersection Upgrades on the WayRoad safety improvement for intersections in Inverloch and Corinella. By Portal Admin - 2nd June 2019 - Back to News Bass Coast Shire Council is committed to improving road safety.
In coming weeks, the intersection of Halford Street and The Crescent in Inverloch and the intersection of Corinella and Cemetery roads in Corinella will be upgraded.
The aim of these projects is to improve road safety at the intersections.
The work is being fully funded by Council as part of its 2018/19 Capital Works program.
The cost of the Inverloch work is around $100,000 and the Corinella work is valued at around $38,000.
The Corinella works are expected to start during the week of 27 May 2019 and be completed by 5 June, weather permitting.
The work on the Inverloch intersection is expected to start on Monday, 3 June 2019 and will take up to four weeks to complete, subject to the contractor’s availability and weather.
In Inverloch, the work will include drainage improvements, kerb and channel replacement, pavement works for Halford Street, installation of signage and line marking at the intersection.
Some properties located within the works area will have existing concrete driveways modified as a result of the works. Access to these driveways will be restricted for a five-day period after the concrete is poured to allow the concrete to cure. Council’s contractor will advise property owners in advance of any works affecting access to their properties.
The works at the Corinella intersection will include asphalt upgrades, installation of signage, guide posts and line marking at the intersection and landscaping the nature strip area on Corinella Road.
Both of these projects are important in ensuring Council’s urban road network is safe and sustainable for the community into the future.
Council acknowledges it can be a challenge to deliver road works without affecting road users, businesses and public access. Temporary traffic measures will be in place for both projects, which could include traffic delays. Council’s contractors will make every effort to minimise the disruptions to local residents during these works. All other road users may wish to seek alternate routes during the construction periods.
Access to adjoining properties will be maintained throughout the works and the contractors and Council staff will work closely with landowners within the vicinity of these works.
