Pat Dale to weave her magic at Gallery workshopFollowing a very successful basketry weaving workshop last year, weaving and textile artist Pat Dale is returning to Latrobe Regional Gallery in early May to present the woven bowl workshop for adults. By Latrobe City Council - 26th April 2006 - Back to News This workshop will explore the use of natural materials and cane-work techniques to create a unique object. Participants will use cane, sea grass and other plant material to weave a round bowl object.
Latrobe Regional Gallery’s public programs officer, Johanna Bartels, said that by attending the workshop, participants will learn new weaving skills and gain technical knowledge. "Participants will also have a unique opportunity to gain inspiring insights from Pat Dale’s experience and knowledge. It is also a great chance to network with other people of similar interests in the relaxed environment of the Gallery workshop," Ms Bartels said.
"Pat Dale has taught her style of weaving for many years. She has exhibited in major craft exhibitions and is the author of the book ‘Basketry and Weaving with Natural Materials’. Pat incorporates natural plants and she utilises both conventional and unconventional techniques and styles.
"This workshop is suitable for beginners and intermediate weavers. All materials will be supplied, however participants will need to bring their own pair of secateurs or clippers, and six clip-type clothes pegs." Ms Bartels concluded.
The workshop will be held on Sunday 7 May from 11am to 3.30pm and the cost is $44 for general public and $40 for Latrobe Regional Gallery Friends members.
Bookings are essential, by contacting the Gallery on telephone 5128 5700, and must be made by Friday 5 May.
