Gallery Director, Louise Tegart said that ‘Surface, Fragment and Figment’ covered the period the artist spent studying in Townsville through to the running of her studio in Boolarra.

"This body of work portrays the development of Jenny’s style and use of various techniques," Ms Tegart said.

"Jenny Peterson produces prints that use cardboard, corrugated iron and paper to investigate themes such as landscape, botany and the mythology surrounding rural heroes including the farmer and the bushranger," Ms Tegart explained.

Ms Tegart added that some of the printmaking techniques in the exhibition included etchings, collagraphs, linocuts and monotypes. "A selection of printmaking plates the artist used to produce some of the exhibited work is also on display," Ms Tegart said.

Members of the public are invited to join the artist for an insight into her work during an artist’s talk on Tuesday 7 June. Tea and coffee will be served at 10.30am with the talk commencing at 11.00am. The cost is $5, $3 concession and is free for Gallery Society members.

‘Surface, Fragment and Figment’ continues until Sunday 26 June at Latrobe Regional Gallery.

Latrobe Regional Gallery is located at 138 Commercial Road, Morwell, and is open Monday to Friday 10am-5pm, and on weekends 11am–4pm. The gallery is closed on Public Holidays. For further information about exhibitions at the gallery, please telephone 5128 5700.
