Latrobe Local News:
Warning To Be Weary Of Scams

Latrobe City Council has become aware that residents across Latrobe have received phone calls and emails over recent days as part of a scam demanding money and credit card details for Latrobe City Council rates and parking fines.

By Portal Admin - 13th March 2017 - Back to News

Latrobe City Council does not make calls asking customers for their credit card details and advises all residents that providing credit card details via email is fraught with danger.

Anyone in doubt about the best way to make payments to Council or suspect they may be the target of a scam is welcome to call the customer service team on 1300 367 700.

Mayor, Kellie O’Callaghan says, "We do not phone people late at night or offer a 50% discount if you pay immediately. These tactics used by scammers are designed to catch people off guard and force them into making bad decisions.

"It’s always best to check first if there is even the slightest suspicion in your mind that a demand for payment is not genuine."
