Mayor Welcomes Opening Of Federal Latrobe Valley RJIP FundingMayor, Cr Kellie O’Callaghan today welcomed news that the Federal Government has opened the Latrobe Valley Regional Jobs and Investment Package. By Portal Admin - 11th September 2017 - Back to News Mayor Cr O’Callaghan said that the funding package was an opportunity to boost jobs growth across the Valley.
"Our priority must be on creating environments and initiatives that build business confidence and growth.
"The Latrobe Valley is the State’s only economic growth zone, this combined with the Federal Government’s RJIP funding makes Latrobe City the logical place to build a thriving business.
"The environment for economic growth could not be more conducive – we have available industrial land, access to power, water, a highly skilled and loyal work force, an enviable lifestyle, a welcoming community and a determined sense of hope and optimism.
"Ours is a wonderful community full of wisdom and ingenuity – evidence of which can be seen in our Strength-Led Transition document which, no doubt, will form the basis of a Council application.
"I’d like to thank and congratulate Minister Nash, Minister Chester and Russell Broadbent for their continued work and commitment to the Latrobe Valley.
"Funding programs such as these are imperative to our economic sense of possibility and can often serve as a critical catalyst for business and industry transformation. They demonstrate the Federal Government’s commitment to building economic diversity and vitality in regional communities such as ours."
