Mr Northe said "On the same day I joined with the Cancer Council of Victoria‟s Traralgon branch for a „high afternoon tea‟ with approximately 400 guests raising close to $16,000.

"Well done to local branch President Yvonne Jones along with Sally Wilson and their sub-committee in addition to volunteers and businesses for supporting this important event."

Mr Northe said it was pleasing to see over 100 local businesses generously supporting the day by donating goods.

"Two guest speakers were present at the event Deb Stringer and Rachel Geddes from the Cancer Council of Victoria to speak about the distribution of monies raised from events," Mr Northe said.

"The fundraising event is in support of Daffodil Day that assists with cancer research, patient support programs and cancer prevention programs."

Mr Northe said "Daffodil Day is tomorrow Friday 23 August, every donation and every daffodil grows hope. Hope for better treatments, hope for more survivors and hope for a cancer-free future.

"This year Daffodil Day aims to raise over $8.25 million to fund the cancer control initiatives, patient support and research services of Cancer Council's eight state and territory member organisations," Mr Northe said.

"More than 10,000 volunteers are expected to staff over 1,200 Daffodil Day sites across Australia on Daffodil Day."
