NEW HEALTH CLINIC BRINGS HELP TO SALE

 DEFENCE FAMILIES; ROWE

ALP candidate for Gippsland, Jane Rowe has been joined by Labor’s Shadow Minister for Defence Science and Personnel, Alan Griffin and Shadow Minister for Defence, Joel Fitzgibbon to announce that Sale will be home to one of the first of Federal Labor’s proposed Defence Family Health care Clinics.

Ms Rowe explained that the clinics would extend free GP and general dental services

to the spouses and dependants of those serving in the Sale area.

"The Sale clinic will house a GP half of each day, five days per week with a nurse all day, and a dentist and a dental nurse all day five days per week."  Said Ms Rowe

"The services will be free for all Defence families."

The proposal is part of a $33.1 million proposal to roll our 12 clinics across Australia and will be expanded if the implementation proves successful.

"I have been very keen to ensure that the Sale base was part of the first group of clinics" said Ms Rowe.

"It gives me a great deal of pride that the Federal Labor leadership team have shown this sort of support to Gippsland Defence force personnel and I have already passed on my appreciation to Joel and Alan for their personal efforts to recognise the Gippsland base"

The candidate for Gippsland explained that the scheme would focus on regional and remote defence communities and was aimed at recognising the service of ADF personnel, ‘the sacrifices their families make, and raising Defence Force retention rates.’

"Australia’s national security will be a first priority for a Rudd Labor Government and taking care of ADF personnel and their families is crucial the defence of our nation." concluded Ms Rowe.
