Help bring back mountain bike jumps for children in the Chesterfield Park Estate

Council tabled a petition of 41 signatories calling for the establishment of a dedicated and secure bike park within Chesterfield Park Estate. An Officer response will now be tabled within four council meetings' time.

Planning and development

Petition response: Reopen Weebar Road North-bound, Drouin

Council noted that pathway connections to the Ferntree Ridge subdivision are required to be provided by the developer as part of the stage 11 works, which is the next stage.

Council resolved to not re-open the northbound lane of Weebar Road until such time as the planned roundabout at Weebar Road and Main South Road has been constructed.

AMD0009/23 - 28 Gloucester Place, Warragul

Council issued a notice of approval for planning application AMD0009/23, with a number of conditions.

Community infrastructure

Half Cost Fencing Policy - Property abutting council land review

Council adopted the Half Cost Fencing Policy, which allows council and private landowners to share the cost of fencing along shared boundaries, in certain situations.

CEO General business

Baw Baw Shire Council CEO, Mark Dupe, noted that council will not submit a motion to the October 2023 meeting of the Municipal Association of Victoria state council in relation to the Victorian government funding and plans for the Timber Transition as the formal report from Timber Towns Victoria has not yet been released.

Mayoral Minute

Mayor McCabe used her Mayoral Minute to speak about community engagement, and said there were many ways for people to engage with council - phone, email, face to face meetings, social media, Questions on Notice, Live Chat, and visiting the front counter - and she was excited to say that there would soon be more opportunities for residents, with Customer Service set to re-open in Warragul soon.

Baw Baw Shire Council meetings are open to the public and are held at the West Gippsland Arts Centre, beginning at 5:30pm. All council meetings will be live-streamed, and archived recordings will be available on the council website for viewing. The agenda for the next meeting will be available online the Friday prior to the meeting.
