Our new Aussies!

Nine South Gippslanders officially became "Aussies" on Monday 30th August at a Citizenship Ceremony held in Council’s Function Room.

Mayor Cr Heather Bligh had the pleasure of facilitating the "Pledge of Commitment as a Citizen of the Commonwealth of Australia", the candidates’ final step in becoming Australian citizens.

Our new citizens, who were presented with a gift of an Australian native plant from the people of South Gippsland and their Certificate of Citizenship, are:

Arizona Butler
Patricia Barsdell
June Lewis
John Hather
Jennifer Donlon

(Yanakie)
(Korumburra)
(Berry's Creek)

A group of thirty five well-wishers, including Councillors, families and friends, were on hand to witness the ceremony and celebrate the occasion over afternoon tea.
