Council takes legal action against dog owner

A man from Rosedale is due to appear in court later this month on 16 charges relating to two dogs previously declared dangerous by Wellington Shire Council.

By Wellington Shire Council - 16th June 2004 - Back to News

The charges – in connection with a number of offences over a period of time – include two relating to dog attacks and two for failing to identify a declared dangerous dog. There are four charges for a dog at large, with others relating to failure to register a dog, failing to display warning signs, failure to keep a dog in a prescribed enclosure and failing to ensure a dog is wearing a prescribed collar and for dogs creating a nuisance.

Wellington Shire Council believed the situation with the dogs to be serious and executed a Search Warrant, issued by the Magistrates Court, with the assistance of Rosedale Police on 27 May 2004.

The man has been issued with a summons to appear before Sale Magistrates on Tuesday 29 June to face the charges and the dogs have been seized by the council pending the court action.
