dancers earlier in the evening.

Latrobe City Council’s acting performing arts and venues coordinator, Eloisa Tripodi, said that the new show would draw the audience in with its physical expression.

"Horizon Variation is a new show comprising three sections. Submerged is an uplifting piece of contemporary ballet choreographed by Simon Hoy that gives physical expression to a celebration of Samuel Barber’s musical masterwork ‘Adagio for Strings’. From a Dream is a short work choreographed by Podesta based on the character of Titania in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and Horizon Variation is a work choreographed by Hoy to the music of Max Richter, inspired by a poem of Marina Tsvetaeva.

"Audiences will enjoy some familiar faces amongst the company as well as some new dancers and, as usual, will be impressed by the interpretation and physicality of the performances," Ms Tripodi said.

"For the younger, aspiring dancers in our midst the Melbourne Ballet Company will conduct workshops, led by a company ballerina. In the Fairy Workshop running from 4pm to 4.45pm, young children will be able to come dressed as fairies, princes or princesses to learn basic classical ballet moves.

"Older dancers at the intermediate or senior level will have a chance to work with the company dancers from 5pm to 6pm. These classes are a great way for those with little or no formal training to have a go and for those with dance aspirations to work with members of a top ballet company," Ms Tripodi concluded.

To book your tickets for both the performance of Horizon Variation or for the workshops call the box office on 5176 3333. Show starts at 8pm, LPA bar opens from 7pm.
