Council Meeting Round-up

A snapshot of some of the decisions made by Council at their Ordinary Meeting on Monday 12 September 2016.

Advocacy

  • Council will apply for a change in the speed limit from 80km/h to 60km/h of Old Sale Road, Moe between Northern Avenue and south of Montane Boulevard.
  • Council will write to Victoria Police and request increased patrols and enforcement of the speed limit in Manning Drive, Churchill.
  • Designated the chief executive officer as Council’s representative to the Latrobe Health Innovation Zone Assembly and Board.
  • Resolved to advise Gippsland Waste and Resource Recovery Group of Council’s concerns around the draft Gippsland Waste and Resource Recovery Group Implementation Plan
  • Decisions

  • Approved the proposed itinerary for the 2016 Sports Exchange Program to Takasago, Japan.
  • Resolved to submit an application to the 2016-2020 Country Football and Netball Program for the construction of netball courts and parking project at the Morwell Recreation Reserve, with matching funding of $300,000 referred to the 2017/18 budget.
  • Resolved to submit an application for installation of air conditioning at indoor sports stadiums to the 2016-17 Better Indoor Stadiums Fund
  • Resolved to implement the recommendations of the consultants’ report into the tendering process for the resurfacing of the Agnes Brereton Reserve in Traralgon
  • Noted the Yinnar Community Centre Community Engagement Project Report and the community preference for Option Two in the report.
  • Resolved to enter a new 21 year lease with the Traralgon Greyhound Racing Club
  • Resolved to trial new outdoor pool operating hours at Traralgon Outdoor Pool - 10am to 8pm every day during the 2016/17 summer season, regardless of temperature. Hours at the Moe Outdoor Pool and Yallourn North Outdoor Pool will remain the same as previous years, but the trigger temperature has been raised to 26 degrees.
  • Noted the Morwell and Districts Community Recovery Committee Morwell North Doorknock Report.
  • Acknowledged the work of the Morwell North neighbourhood community in developing the Morwell and Districts Community Recovery Committee’s Morwell North Neighbourhood Resilience Plan 2016.
