Latrobe City Adopts Council Plan And Budget

At its ordinary meeting on Monday night, Latrobe City Council formally adopted the 2009/10 budget and the 2009/2013 council plan.

There were no amendments to the council plan, which outlines council’s strategic objectives for the next four years, along with the strategies to achieve these goals.

The 2009/10 budget was adopted with a minor recommendation. The item ‘Warren Terrace, Hazelwood North – Oval Development’ is replaced with ‘preliminary development of a plan for a recreational facility in the Hazelwood North area’.

Highlights of the budget expenditure for the next financial year include $1.8 million towards developing a Moe children's hub incorporating Moe Early Learning Centre, a new preschool and maternal and child health facilities as well as $1 million towards the Moe Activity Centre Plan. The Morwell Landfill will be rehabilitated with a $1 million injection. There will be $750,000 towards the Traralgon Early Learning Centre relocation and expansion, and $99,000 towards a Traralgon CBD lighting project. A multipurpose synthetic sports pitch will be built at Monash University Churchill with a contribution of $300,000.
