Entertainment centre makes it a hat-trick of awards

Wellington Shire Council is delighted that its Esso BHP Billiton Wellington Entertainment Centre has now scored a hat-trick of awards – scooping yet another honour - this time for architectural excellence.

By Wellington Shire Council - 24th June 2004 - Back to News

The entertainment centre has been announced as a joint winner of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects Victorian Chapter 2004 Awards in the Regional Prize category.

Harmer Architecture and Hyder Consulting managed the design process for the multi-million-dollar centre, which only last week also received two top building awards from the Master Builders Association of Victoria.

The facility is a credit to the creativity and design expertise of Harmer Architecture, Hyder Consulting and the team involved in the centre’s development.

Said Wellington’s Mayor Jeff Amos: "This is the third award for the entertainment centre in just a few days and its great to see this unique facility being rewarded in this way. We are delighted that this eagerly-awaited community facility has received such well-deserved recognition and would like to congratulate the architects involved for their excellent work on this landmark project.

"The centre provides an outlet to stage diverse, cultural entertainment in the region and has proven to be an invaluable asset to the shire’s already vibrant and active cultural community, adding a new dimension to Wellington’s appeal as a place to live and visit."
