Clint Eastwood - Independent Candidate for Gippsland East

‘East Gippsland ~ Paradise Found’

By Clint Eastwood - 10th October 2006 - Back to News

"It was with immense pride and also a little bit of relief, that I very happily attended the grand launch of the new East Gippsland

Official Visitors Guide at Lakes Entrance last Friday week, followed by the EGRBTA inaugural AGM and dinner at Paynesville on Wednesday,

and on Thursday a wonderful and memorable visit to the Gippsland Regional Gallery and the Port of Sale".

(Gippsland is great…Go and see it for yourself!)

"I say with pride, because as an original and integral member (Though I’ve just retired as the Public Officer after the initial two years) of the

East Gippsland Regional Business and Tourism Association, it was a most happy occasion to see yet another positive achievement for

our spectacular region become a reality".

"And I say relief, because after a lot of upheaval and uncertainty over the last few years, the future of tourism, and indeed the economic

outlook of our entire region, is looking a whole lot brighter" said Clint.

"There is quite a high level of activity, as well as a growing confidence in our region, and there is a range of fantastic initiatives and

projects currently being developed or are in the pipeline, with many already complete or close to fruition, such as the

East Gippsland Tourism Strategic Plan 2006-2011, the Gippsland and East Gippsland branding and marketing campaigns, and the

development of touring discovery trails, to name a few".

"But to make life better for all of us, it takes energy, effort, courage and commitment.

Our region certainly has these much needed qualities in great abundance, as do our people, our communities, and our towns.

But does our current local member, or perhaps even a new representative? Let us hope so, for the sake of our electorate".

"Whoever is elected, we need to ensure that this person will work hard for all of the citizens of Gippsland East and:

  • Ensure we have a vision and strategies that will produce a smart, strong, safe and sustainable future;

  • Work towards a much more positive, progressive and productive working relationship with all levels of government and agencies

and is inclusive of all stakeholders, particularly our rural communities.

  • Encourage greater investment in our region, and create opportunities for the Growth, Advancement, Recognition and Stature

of the Eastern Gippsland region, and its unique people, places and products".

"We have triumphed through bushfires, droughts, floods and plagues. We’ve cried when we lost our loved ones, our livelihoods,

or yes even a footy match. We’ve smiled in the good seasons, have enjoyed successes in our lives and watched happily and with pride

as our kids have grown up to continue on the generations".

"East Gippslanders are well known to help and work with one another, whether a stranger or neighbour, in the good times but especially the bad,

and it is this genuine community spirit that makes Gippsland East the very special place that we all know and love".

"We all know that our region is ‘simply the best’ place to live, work and play; our families, our friends,

our communities, and of course our visitors, all know that this great region of ours that we call home,

truly is a ‘Paradise Found’, and is definitely ‘the RIGHT side of Victoria!"
