Call For Community Involvement In Commonwealth Games

Applications open today for community groups and local residents to audition for a role in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Commonwealth Games.

By Bass Coast Shire Council - 19th July 2005 - Back to News

The Ceremonies team is looking for people over the age of 18 from all backgrounds and with varying experience in several performance categories such as dance, acting and physical expression to participate.

Bass Coast Shire Council’s Arts & Leisure Coordinator, Jenny Churchill, is encouraging local community groups and residents to get involved.

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It would be fantastic to have the Bass Coast community represented at the Ceremonies.

"The limited number of places, however, means that applications are expected to close within the next few days, so get in quick," encouraged Ms Churchill.

Community groups and residents can apply online at www.melbourne2006.com.au by following the link to the Ceremonies Cast Application Form. Those without internet access can call 1300 00 2006 for a paper based application form.
