close to the fires as tracks have become slippery.

The Cathedral Range fire in Wilsons Promontory National Park remains at about 2700 hectares in size, but direct attack on this fire is still not possible, due to the extremely steep and rugged terrain.

The cool weather conditions will allow some crews to be rested in preparation for the anticipated increased fire threat later in the week.

Fire activity on the Dargo-White Timber Spur fire is still quiet and crews are focusing on consolidating control lines and patrolling.

The new fire at Waynes Track, 14 kilometres north-east of Dargo is also quiet and will be checked this morning, but is not causing any problems.

Fire activity at the East Tyers -Thomson fire near Walhalla also remains quiet and there is no current threat to any communities from this fire. Burning out operations (burning of unburnt fuel within the fire perimeter) have been undertaken along the Thomson Valley Road and in the Walhalla sector with good results.

There is a community meeting at 6.00pm at the Rawson Primary School to bring local residents up-to date with suppression operations and what to expect over the next few days.

Crews are walking in to the fires on the Baw Baw Plateau today to work on these fires, which could be contained today.
